Rinchenpong is a town in West Sikkim, India. It is situated in West Sikkim, about 125 km west of Gangtok, close to the village of Kaluk. It sits at an altitude of around 5500 feet. It is known for its, beautiful surroundings and local monasteries and specially the view of Mount Kanchanjungha from the location makes it even more attractive to the travellers.

The famous Rinchenpong Monastery was established in 1730 by the Ngadakpa Lama in the village of Rinchenpong. It is the 3rd oldest monastery in Sikkim, starting with around 98 lamas.

How to reach

You can reach Rinchenpong in West Sikkim from NJP Railway station or Bagdogra airport if you are coming via West Bengal, and Gangtok airport if you are coming by air via Gangtok. It is around 140 KM from Siliguri and takes around 5 - 6 hours, Around 120 KMs from Gangtok and takes around 5 - 6 hours.
